MICROBLADING FOR MEN

What is Microblading

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique used for the eyebrows. Microblading can be used on someone with little to no eyebrows by creating an illusion of a more defined, fuller and more masculine brows. The result of microblading for men offers significantly fuller natural looking eyebrows than traditional makeup can offer while eliminating any daily maintenance.

Men are increasingly turning to microblading as a solution to achieve the perfect brows. As we age, guy's eyebrows can become sparse and patchy, but with microblading men can enjoy natural-looking results for up to 18 months.

Men’s Microblading is Men's Eyebrows Tattoo (well, sort of)

Microblading is a type of tattoo, but it’s not permanent like a traditional tattoo. Not only do the two use different color pigments—traditional tattoos use concentrated tattoo ink, while microblading uses smaller pigment ink particles. Because of the pigment used, microblading produces a semi-permanent “tattoo” that looks soft and subtle, instead of opaque and bright as with traditional tattoos.

Microblading and traditional tattoos are also applied differently. Unlike traditional tattoos, which use a tattoo gun, microblading uses a blade-shaped tool with a row of tiny, barely visible needles to create hair-like strokes along your brows while depositing pigment into your skin. The pigment is applied superficially to top layers of your skin rather than deeper layers like traditional tattoos where it becomes permanent. Microblading is semi-permanent so your body will metabolize the pigments until it fades away.

Cost of Microblading for Men

How much microblading costs depends on a lot of factors, like where you live and the experience of your men’s brow artist.  Expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1000 dollars for the initial session.  A set of perfect, fuller, bolder more masculine brows created specifically for your face can really sharpen your look. For some, it can also have an anti aging illusion, so it can be worth the cost for anyone not feeling their natural brows.

Microblading Men's Eyebrow Shape

The shape of the men's eyebrows should be chosen carefully, as it will depend on the individual’s face shape and features. Generally, it is best to choose a natural looking men's eyebrow shape that suits your face and does not look overly manicured or groomed. For men, a masculine brow is one that is thicker, fuller and symmetrical to frame and create balance in the face.

Microblading Process

The process begins with a consultation, where the artist will evaluate the facial structure, skin type and discuss desired look and expectations to determine if microblading is right you.

Determine the Perfect Men's Eyebrow Shape

Shaping the perfect men's eyebrows

Generally, it is best to choose a natural looking brow shape that suits your face and does not look overly groomed. Fortunately thru the experience of your microblading artist, you can create the perfect brows for you.

Angular Eyebrows - the shape creates definition and considered the best for men with round faces.

Round Eyebrows - has a slight arch and compliments men with wide eyes and broad foreheads.

Flat eyebrows - has minimal curve and are ideal for a long face since its horizontal lines makes the face appear shorter in length.

Again, thick eyebrows on men are equated with more masculine brows but the thickness will depend on how it fits your overall features face shape.

Map the Men's Eyebrow Shape and Apply the Color

Once the men's eyebrow shape has been evaluated and finalized. The artist will measure, draw out shape, ensuring symmetry and balance. A custom color using several shades matching your natural hair color is created so your men's brow will look multidimensional with hyper realism.

The pigment is then precisely layered into each individual stroke using a blade-shaped tool with a row of tiny, barely visible needles to carefully create hair-like strokes strategically placed along your brows while depositing pigment into your skin.

It’s important to remember that the actual microblading process isn’t just a few single strokes across your skin—it actually requires a few rounds of numbing, different pigment shades, and strokes to complete.

Microblading Healing Process

You can expect for the first couple of days, the color of your now perfect eyebrows being bolder, and darker. Flaking and scabbing can start after 4-5 days. It is very important not to pick at these flakes or scabs. Picking can pull out the pigment leading to loss of color in those spots.  Microbladed brows will fully heal in about three weeks but how well they heal will depend on how well you follow the aftercare instructions.

General, you shouldn’t sweat heavily, get your eyebrows wet, or be in the sun for seven days after getting microblading. You will also need to apply an antibacterial ointment to your brows every few hours for the first 24 hours to keep the area moist and protected. Finally avoid using any skincare actives around the brows until it is fully healed.

How Long Does Microblading Eyebrows Last

Microblading can last anywhere from one to three years depending on your skin type, oilier skin types tend to fade the fastest. In one year, you’ll likely notice some fading, but your microblading probably won’t totally be gone. By 2 to 2.5 years,  you can expect your microblading to be nearly untraceable. However, consistent touch-ups every 12-18 months can give your brows more dimension and help your microbladed men's brow look fresh.
